Empowering Kingdom Growth Through Prayer
Events in North America have shown believers (and unbelievers) that it is time to pray. Two things begin to happen as believers answer the divine call to prayer. First, God’s people begin to return to Him in revival. Second, the church begins to be reclaimed as a house of prayer for all the nations (see Mark 11:17). A Great Commission Prayer Ministry will provide a way for churches to become houses of prayer with a passion for lost people everywhere.
Invitation
Joy - Joy marked the atmosphere during Creation, "when the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy" (Job 38:7). Joy is the fruit of the Holy Spirit in a believer's life (Galatians 5:22). It is one of the prominent marks of the Presence of God - "In Your Presence is fullness of joy" (Psalm 16:11).
During the 8 days of consecration, plan for some corporate prayer experiences. Provide specific suggestions for a variety of prayer emphases during the week or for each day. Where appropriate incorporate a brief message and music, only don’t substitute them for an extended time for prayer each day. Prayer should dominate your time together. The following are some suggestions for your consideration.
Renewing Our Covenant Commitments to Jesus Christ
The following suggestions are designed to assist pastorsin leading a time of solemn (or sacred) assembly for the purpose of returning to our first love, for confession and repentance of sin, and for renewed commitment to our Lord Jesus Christ.
There is no great movement of God that has ever occurred that does not begin with the extraordinary prayer of God’s people. The time is now for us to come together before God in clear agreement, visible union, and in extraordinary prayer for the next Great Awakening and for the world to be reached for Christ.
Biblical Prayer Patterns for Pastors & Prayer Leaders
This booklet is birthed out of a desire to serve pastors and prayer leaders as they lead group prayer sessions. I began the Wednesday evening prayer service by asking for specific prayer requests from the group as a whole. Thirty minutes later, we began to pray for the multitudes of requests given. Maybe this was an isolated experience, but after years of traveling across North America, in and out of mid-week prayer services, I believe it is more the norm than not.
That day will always be etched in my mind. I was praying at a missionary training center with a dear friend concerning the moving forward of God’s Kingdom through our children’s lives. Our praying was simple, yet very passionate and profound. Our hearts were broken and our desires were the same—“take our children and use them for Your glory, Lord.”Of course, the results of these prayers were yet to be realized, but we both understood the seriousness of the moment. Where would these prayers take our children? What would this mean regarding the focus of their particular mission involvement? The Lord knew the future, and we could only watch and wait to see how these prayers would be answered in and through our children’s lives.
Lord, teach us to pray. - Luke 11:1
I Will Pray for My Family. Pray that the love (Love for God; love for one another) in your home will be greater than the attacks upon your home. Ask God to give you insight that your home may be a place where truth is taught and learned.
In many ways you will start your "Day of Prayer" Preparing to Pray on the evening before. (Actually, in Scripture the day begins in the evening -- "the evening and the morning" made up each day in Genesis 1). How? Start with an attitude of humility. God calls us to humble ourselves to Him -- to come recognizing our needs (personally, communally, nationally, internationally) and to cry out to Him for mercy and grace (Hebrews 4:14-16).
